Twenty years ago Paul Johnson a former adviser and writer for Margaret Thatcher [pre-emptive cry inserted here: fascist!] wrote a great book entitled 'Intellectuals'. He catalogued some highly regarded marxist-leftist 'thinker's and satirized their hypocrisies, sexual dysfunctionality, narrow mindedness and ultimately their vast capacity to provoke danger, and bloodshed through stupidity and lies.
As Johnson related 'Intellectuals' are essentially theorists who prize ideas over people. They want power. Much like the eco-fascist fanatics; race-baiters; or Muslim 'extremists', intellectuals prefer abstractions and weird jargon to the actual welfare of ordinary people. Globaloney warming and starving, dead poor people, is yet another example of the poverty of the intellectual 'class'.
For the intellectuals and the Ivy-league trained toothy, well-coiffed jet-set, people are less important than concepts of power, technocracy and order. For the eco-intellectual, trees, brightly colored birdies, or the odd looking stomach dragging reptile is far more valuable than the welfare of a mere human. In a world of imminent doom from mankind's rapacious destruction of mother earth, and the attendant globaloney warming therefrom; less humans will mean more nature. The eco-cult likes this. In fact most extreme eco-fascist members advocate a reduction in human numbers – by force if necessary. Intellectual dishonesty keeps the eco-fascist movement primed and ready.
This then is the profound totalitarianism and savagery of the eco-cult and generalised intellectual movements. They ultimately demand blood and a coercive end to human action which they view as repugnant. This fascist impulse suffuses intellectual theories – including the dishonest junk science around a 'warming' earth, or an earth undergoing 'climate change'.
As Johnson writes on page 319, there is a direct connection between intellectuals and violence; "The association of intellectuals with violence occurs too often to be dismissed as an aberration. Often it takes the form of admiring those 'men of action' who practise violence. Mussolini had an astonishing number of intellectual followers, by no means all of them Italian.
In his ascent to power, Hitler consistently was most successful on the campus, his electoral appeal to students regularly outstripping his performance among the population as a whole. He always performed well among teachers and university professors.......Many intellectuals were drawn into the higher echelons of the Nazi Party and participated in the more grusome excesses of the SS."
The Nazis weren't the only power mongers to rely on intellectual support. The French and Soviet revolutions, Mao's China and various totalitarian experiments in Africa and Latin America all received enthusiastic intellectual support. Utopian schemes and ideals always find a ready receptor in the intellectual elite and the un-realistic class within modern society. As written elsewhere, totalitarian movements must feed off of the intellectual zeitgeist and prevailing culture – itself generated and distorted by endless intellectual propaganda.
Most environmentalists view human kind as repulsive. This fact, intellectualised from campuses to the political platfrom is there for all to view. The most extreme of these eco-intellects advocate a forcible reduction of the human population by 75%. How is this sort of repulsive anti-humanist; anti-spiritual; anti-life theorizing any different than the ideals espoused by Nazis, Communists or jihadic Muslims?
Some notable eco-fascist quotes:
I suspect that eradicating smallpox was wrong. It played an important part in balancing ecosystems.
—John Davis, editor of Earth First! Journal
Human beings, as a species, have no more value than slugs.
—John Davis, editor of Earth First! Journal
The extinction of the human species may not only be inevitable but a good thing....This is not to say that the rise of human civilization is insignificant, but there is no way of showing that it will be much help to the world in the long run.
—Economist editorial
Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on earth, social and environmental.
—Dave Forman, Founder of Earth First!
If radical environmentalists were to invent a disease to bring human populations back to sanity, it would probably be something like AIDS
—Earth First! Newsletter
Human happiness, and certainly human fecundity, is not as important as a wild and healthy planets…Some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.
—David Graber, biologist, National Park Service
The collective needs of non-human species must take precedence over the needs and desires of humans.
—Dr. Reed F. Noss, The Wildlands Project
This then is the creed and view of the eco-fascists, the L. Ron Gore cult; and the globaloney warming alarmists. It is not enough to stop using your SUVs and return society to the Delphic Oracle cult circa 1500 B.C. No. We must eradicate our human virus, so mother earth's fever will disappear and the little animals and birdies will be happy and serene.
This is fascism and it is extreme, bloody, coercive and intellectualised-junk.
One of the benefits of Christianity and the modern world is that the human is elevated above the beasts but still rests beneath the divine. Humans through technology and practical local awareness and efforts have and will continue to improve the environment. The earth's temperature has cooled in the past 10 years. More trees exist now than 200 years ago. Only 0.7 % of species – a historically average rate – have disappeared in the past 150 years. Mother earth is feeling okay, regardless of what the pagans scream.
Yet we should listen to their nonsense very carefully. The eco-cult demands an end to civilisation and in some cases, to humanity. Is that the sort of 'intellectual' movement you want to follow? Or is the eco-cult just another brain-dead fascist movement ultimately desiring absolute power?
