Twitter website updates, or micro-messaging sometimes called 'Tweets', are part of a larger social problem. Twitter is a creation not just of irrelevant technology [I don't care what you are doing right now so go away]; but of the larger cultural-Marxist obsession with 'self'; 'esteem'; and 'what the world owes you'. It is narcissism run amok.
Only in a narcissistic world does anyone truly believe that other people are breathlessly waiting to hear what you are doing. It must be so very fascinating for your 'network' to know that you are reading a book; buying a size 50 piece of underwear; listening to the latest greatest teleprompter ho-hum crockery from the Black Jesus; or day dreaming whilst twiddling your thumbs as you watch Survivor re-runs.
Get over yourself.
No one is that concerned about you and they don't relish every one of your mind-numbingly dumb 'tweet's. To wit - if you 'Tweet' you are a self-absorbed 'Twit'. That is new general law of social physics. I Tweet therefore I am- a Twit.
Tweeting and micro-messaging is not cool. It is not that advanced or innovative. It is not progressive or informative. It is just simply a colossal waste of time and a fine way for the owners of Twitter to make money from micro-texting Twits. Tweeting and bleating your every move into someone's email box is a sure sign of colossal narcissism worthy of the Prophet Obamed or someone working at the UN.
In other words Tweeting is yet another example of where reality does not support the perceived Ego of the announced mediocrity. It comes directly out of a self-absorbed culture.
Facebook is bad enough, but at least it can unite interests, friends and ideas across time, place and space. Facebook and other 'social networking sites' can serve a real and legitimate purpose. They can allow groups to form around issues; aid with business and hobby networking; reunite friends and family; and allow the quick exchange of information about important matters.
Twitter on the other hand is however, an abomination. It is spam. Much of the information is wrong; centred around products I don't want to buy; or giving me information I don't care about. Go away ! The whole mix is incoherent and serves no purpose whatsoever.
The only point of Twitter is for the Twit who is Tweeting. It makes them feel relevant, important and precious.
I Twit therefore I am – a Twit. This will be the new logo on the t-shirts of the progressive, self-absorbed, cultural Marxist crowd. Until at least this abominable fad passes and fades into the dusk of history. Sooner not later one hopes.
